A Simple, Somatic Witchy Guide to Clearing the Energy in Your Home

Step 1. Orient and Arrive
Before doing anything, pause. Feel your feet on the ground, notice your breath. Let your eyes wander around the room and land on something that feels neutral or pleasant. Your nervous system needs to know you’re safe before you begin.

Step 2. Open the Pathways
Crack open windows and doors, even just a little. Fresh air literally flushes volatile compounds and stale oxygen, while your body registers the temperature shift as “something new is happening.” You’re also allowing old energies out and new energies in.

Step 3. Move the Energy With Sound
Take a bell, chime, or just your hands clapping, and walk the perimeter of the room. Pay special attention to corners and doorways where stagnant air tends to collect. Sound vibrates molecules, and your vagus nerve responds to the resonance.

Step 4. Burn, Wash, or Mist With Intention

  • Light herbs, resins, or a candle.

  • Or, wash the floors with salt or vinegar water.

  • Or, mist the air with water infused with rosemary, eucalyptus, or lavender.

As you do, say out loud (so your own ears and body hear it): “I release what is not mine. I invite in clarity, calm, and vitality.” Speaking engages the social nervous system and reinforces the shift.

Step 5. Rearrange or Clear Out
Move one or two objects or pieces of furniture. Your body encodes habit through procedural memory - shifting your environment tells your brain it can shift too. While you’re at it, take out the trash or recycling.

Step 6. Bring in the Living
Place a plant, a bowl of fresh fruit, or even a vase of water with cut greens in the room. Living matter changes the way your nervous system perceives safety - our bodies are built to co-regulate with life.

Step 7. Reset With Laughter or Music
Turn on music that makes you want to sway, sing, or laugh. Sound and rhythm stimulate vagal tone, while joy in your body imprints the new “baseline” of the space.

Step 8. Seal the Intention
Stand in the center of the room. Feel your feet again. Take a few slow exhales. Place your hand on your heart or belly and say, “This space supports me. I belong here.” That closing anchors the ritual into your body, not just your mind.
